Course Objectives This course aims to enable students to prepare prepares lesson plans including short activities which take 15 minutes, carry them out in a controlled classroom setting, and self-reflect on their practices based on the video-recorded sessions.
Course Content Basic concepts and principles of effective teaching and learning; teachers' professional competence, attitudes, roles, and behaviors; lesson plan preparation; scope, benefits, and limitations of microteaching method; preparing active learning activities appropriate to the subject; exemplary lecture practices in the classroom; video recording of lecture presentations; evaluation of the course using the recordings; development of prepared activities and lectures.
Learning Outcomes (LO) At the end of the course teacher trainees will develop: 1. an understanding of basic principles of effective teaching and learning, 2. an understanding teacher’s professional competencies, attitudes, roles, and behaviors, 3. themselves in terms of lesson planning, preparation, and execution, 4. an understanding of self-reflection. 5. their reflective teaching skills.
