Course Objectives Prospective teachers will be able to create a language teaching portfolio and course design suitable for different purposes and conditions by analyzing and evaluating new approaches, methods and techniques in language teaching.
Course Content Approaches suitable for different student needs such as course design in English Language Teaching, English as a second / foreign / international / special purpose / academic language; current practices such as constructivist approach, content-oriented, task-oriented, problem-oriented, integrated language teaching, multiple intelligence and holistic language approach; the importance of culture in second / foreign language teaching and language teaching, the use of technology in language classes, the place of communication in the developing world and intercultural interaction.
Learning Outcomes (LO) At the end of this course students will 1. Gain knowledge about language teaching approaches for different student needs and make in-class applications by synthesizing this information. 2. Gain knowledge and puts this knowledge into practice about current practices such as the constructivist approach, content-based language teaching, task-based language teaching, problem-based language teaching, integrated language teaching, multiple intelligences and holistic language approach. 3. Gain knowledge about the importance of culture in second / foreign language teaching and language teaching. 4. Gain knowledge about the use of technology in language classes and put this knowledge into practice with projects inside and outside the classroom. 5. Gain knowledge about the place of communication and intercultural interaction in the developing world and comprehend the importance of the English language teaching profession.
