Course Objectives |
The intent of the course is provide second foreign language acquisition strategies for children and young children with a focus on the way of native language acquisition. Moreover, it is aimed to clarify the points to be considered when teaching English, classroom management and material development techniques to this age group.

Course Content |
The course Teaching English to Young Learner s I is to help students acquire the difference of young learners (ages 5-12) and other learners (in terms of learning language structure, skills and sub-skills) and misconceptions about young learners; learning styles of young learners (visual, auditory and emotional) and strategies (e.g. metacongitive, cognitve, social); activities for teaching of vocabulary, language skills, language structure (e.g. puzzles, stories, games and simulations), development of audio-visual materials (e.g. pictures, real objects, cartoons, puppets and songs), the selection of appropriate teaching points for learners' language level and cognitive and affective development, sorting, adaptation and evaluation of material, the classroom management techniques for classroom of young learners.

Learning Outcomes (LO) |
The students who attended the course and were successful at the end of semester will acquire the followings; LO1 – to follow English classes of students between the ages of 5 and 12 in kindergartens and primary schools LO2 – to provide second language acquisition with the use of effective communication techniques and preparation of necessary materials
