Course Objectives The aim of this course is to introduce mass communication and its genres in English language and native languages, learn the structure and use of mass communication, compare its use and structure to web-based mass media, and produce text
Course Content The fundamental concepts in mass communication, the use and structure of English mass communication, the concepts of text producer and interpreter, gender roles in mass communication, various genres of news and the structure of the parts of news, electronic mass media and its use, comparison between native mass media and mass media in English language, producing a piece of text for mass communication
Learning Outcomes (LO) At the end of this course, students; 1) will know the place of English language in mass communication 2) will know the use and structure of English mass communication including its types 3) will understand the text producer and interpreter 4) will understand the gendered language in mass communication 5) will learn about electronic mass media, its structure and use 6) will be able to compare native languages and English language in mass media 7) will be able to produce a piece of text for mass communication
