Course Objectives |
course objectives:
• to develop a strong understanding of the grammatical structures in English and Turkish
• to learn to see grammar points not as isolated features of a language, but rather as individual grammatical features that are interconnected with other features as a part of a system of grammar
• to study and compare syntactic, lexical, semantic and discoursal attributes of English and Turkish
• to use comparative analysis techniques and strategies for transfer of sructures/texts between Turkish and English
• to demonstrate knowledge of micro and macro grammatical structures in Turkish and English

Course Content |
This course includes explanations of grammatical structures in both Turkish and English. The structures are presented in context and students are expected to discover, analyze , compare and contrast the rules in both languages. With variety of practice activities, students will gain a good command of both languages so that they can translate the texts appropriately. |
Learning Outcomes (LO) |
This course will enable students to
• think about language, both Turkish and English
• know English and Turkish grammar so that they can use it
• know English and Turkish grammar so that you can explain how they work
• think critically and analytically about language, rather than simply memorizing rules and lists
• analyze grammatical structures you have already studied
• translate from English to Turkish or vice versa
• make effective language choices
