Course Objectives In this course, students will develop basic knowledge and awareness in the area of health psychology, and they will be able to make fully informed decisions in the future when leading their careers towards applied areas.
Course Content In this course students are introduced to the use of psychological theory and methods in the area of health; the relationship of social environment and health; intercultural studies of health; and psychological/social determinants of health behavior.
Learning Outcomes (LO) The students who attended the course and were successful at the end of semester will acquire the followings; 1-Defining basic concepts and researches of the health psychology. 2- Comrehending the macro-social environment and intercultural characteristics of health behaviors. 3- Explaining the psychological and social determinants of risky health behaviors and experiences (such as: stres, smoking, eating behavior) 4- Having knowledge of the psychological contributions to health promotion and disease prevention topics. 5- Relating the theoretical approaches and research findings of health psychology with everyday life health related experiences.
