Course Objectives This course aims to introduce developmental psychology from a life-span approach and includes the developmental characteristics of adolescence, adulthood and old age periods.
Course Content Developmental psychology is a field of psychology which investigates the developmental patterns of human from conception to death. The contents of this course includes physical, socio-emotional and cognitive development during adolescence, young, middle and old adulthood period.
Learning Outcomes (LO) The students who attended the course and successfully completed will acquire the followings; 1-) Explaining the theories related to the developmental psychology and life-span developmental approach, 2-) Defining adolescence period and explaining physical, socio-emotional and cognitive aspects of adolescence, 3-) Defining adulthood period and explaining physical, socio-emotional and cognitive aspects of adulthood, 4-) Defining death and bereavement, 5-) Relating individual, social and cultural factors to adult development, 6-) Evaluating contemporary issues in adolescence and adulthood periods.
