Course Objectives The aim of this course is to examine the physical, cognitive, social and emotional patterns of old age with a life-span development perspective.
Course Content In this course, students are introduced to the concepts and theories related to aging and older adulthood, biological aging, cognitive and socio-emotional changes that occur in older adulthood, changing roles and responsibilities of older adults during their lifetime, common disorders in old age, death and bereavement processes.
Learning Outcomes (LO) The students who attend the course and are successful at the end of semester will be able to; 1- define basic concepts and theories about aging and older adulthood 2- comprehend research methods and ethical principles in the field of aging and older adulthood 3- understand the physical, cognitive, emotional and social changes seen in the old age 4- recognition of common disorders in old age 5- search literature in the field of old age and to have information about current research findings 6- think critically and analytically
