Course Objectives The aim of this course is to examine the physical, cognitive, social and emotional patterns of old age with a life-span development perspective.
Course Content The concepts and theories related to aging and period of older adulthood, biological aging, cognitive and socio-emotional changes that occur in older adulthood, changing roles and responsibilities of older adults during their lifetime, common disorders in old age, death and bereavement processes are introduced
Learning Outcomes (LO) The students who attended the course and successfully completed at the end of semester will be able to; 1-define the basic concepts and theories about aging and older adulthood 2-evaluate the research methods and ethical principles related to aging and older adulthood 3-summarize the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social changes seen in the old age 4-define the common disorders in old age 5-evaluate the current research findings on the old age period 6-define the death and bereavement processes
