Course Objectives Introducing psychotherapy definition, goals and processes within the scope of both general and basic theoretical approaches.
Course Content In this course, firstly, the definition of psychotherapy and psychotherapist, the process mechanism in psychotherapy, and the concepts of efficacy and effectiveness are introduced. Then, the case formulation which is a common feature in all psychotherapies, is introduced and practiced with various case examples. At last, examples of basic psychotherapy approaches (psychodynamic, individual-centered, behavioral, cognitive-behavioral approaches, etc.) are introduced comparatively in various dimensions (personality, psychopathology and therapy theories, therapeutic techniques, etc.).
Learning Outcomes (LO) 1- To acquire knowledge about the concept and stages of case formulation, and various applications, 2- To acquire skills to formulate cases, 3- To acquire knowledge about the different theories of psychotherapy and being able to compare and criticize each one of them, 4- To be able to evaluate the applicability, efficacy, and effectiveness of psychotherapies to different groups and different problems and/or psychopathologies.
