Course Objectives The aim of this course is to learn the practical principles of interpersonal communication in daily life. It is one of the objectives of the course to improve students' communication in both personal and professional contexts and to provide a general framework for self-knowledge and communication skills.
Course Content In this course, psychological, social, cultural and language factors that affect interpersonal interaction will be covered within the scope of the course. In general, this course introduces basic theories and research on self-knowledge and communication. Understanding person and life events, self, self-presentation and forming impression, attributions, communication and communication models, listening, conflict types and conflict resolution strategies topics will be covered in this course.
Learning Outcomes (LO) The students who attended the course and were successful at the end of semester will acquire the followings; 1- Defining the basic theories and approaches related to communication 2- Making explanations about cultural and historical differences related to communication 3- Applying communication knowledge to different social areas 4- Identifying relationships about how communication affects social interactions in daily life
