| Course Objectives |
The aim of this course is to examine parenting and the effects of parenting on child development from a developmental perspective. It also aims to introduce the basic and current methods, studies, and findings in the field of parenting to the students. |
| Course Content |
In this course, parenting, parenting in various cultures, changing roles and responsibilities of parents throughout life, parenting in various situations, child maltreatment, family conflict, father involvement, maternal gatekeeping, and prevention and intervention programmes are introduced. |

The students who attended the course and successfully completed at the end of semester will be able to;
1-define the basic concepts and theories about parenting
2-evaluate the research methods and ethical principles in the field of parenting
3-summarize the changing roles and responsibilities of parents throughout their life
4-evaluate the effects of prevention and intervention programs on parents and children
5-evaluate the current research findings in the field of parenting

Students who will graduate as a psychologist will be able to;
1-use the information they will obtain in the relevant work areas by following the development of children and adolescents and parents (Kindergarten, nursery, special education and rehabilition centers, private schools, etc.).
2-give the seminars on parenting and child development with the knowledge they will gain from this course.
3-provide the professional guidance and orientation in accordance with ethical principles in case they encounter processes and cases such as domestic violence and child maltreatment.
4-apply the current psychological concepts, theories, and research results in daily life problems. |
