Course Objectives This course aims to cover information on the evaluation, classification, etiology and treatment of childhood and adolescence mental health disorders.
Course Content This course will provide students with an introduction to various psychological disorders seen in childhood and adolescence. Information on the assessment, diagnosis, etiology, and treatment of various mental health disorders such as autism spectrum disorder, anxiety disorders, and conduct disorders in childhood and adolescence will be provided, as well as risk and protective factors related to these disorders, primarily within the framework of developmental psychopathology.
Learning Outcomes (LO) The students who attended the course and were successful at the end of semester will acquire the followings: 1. Being able to recognize and define the diagnostic criteria for psychopathologies frequently encountered in childhood and adolescence. 2. Being able to explain the etiology of these psychopathologies from different perspectives (biological, individual, family, cultural/social). 3. Being able to explain these disorders within the framework of the basic concepts of developmental psychopathology. 4. Being able to define and evaluate the factors that play a role in the development, clinical presentation and treatment of these disorders.
