Course Objectives The aim of this course is to enable students to know the characteristics of 0-6 years old children who perform different developmental tasks during the fastest period of development, to understand their psychological development and educational processes, to acquire knowledge and skills that enable them to have supportive skills.
Course Content In this course, which will focus on understanding the characteristics of children in preschool, which is considered the most critical developmental period in all life periods, the ability to distinguish differences, direct individuals with special needs correctly, knowledge and skills that can support families and teachers, this course will focus on the following topics; child mental health, play, sleep, toilet, food, self-confidence, sexual development, perception of death.
Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon completion of this course, the successful student will obtain the gains that are related to the field of special education: 1. Recognizing and defining the meaning of the concept of children in the historical process 2. Distinguishing situations that can affect a child's mental health 3. Recognizing when and how sleep patterns should be created, providing specific recommendations to the individual 4. Recognizing when and how toilet training should be created, providing specific suggestions to the individual 5. Recognizing when and how the food order should be created, providing specific suggestions to the individual 6. Recognition of game skills suitable for Age periods, creating a program for development 7. Recognizing sexual development and defining solutions to problems that may arise in preschool age 8. Recognizing the importance of the book in the child's life, using it as an appropriate psychological method 9. Recognizing relationships between siblings and friends, defining appropriate solutions in problem situations 10. Recognition of the basic principles of positive discipline 11. Recognize the importance of preschool education and the basic principles of guidance in preschool institutions 12. Recognizing how death is perceived in preschool period, defining ways to cope during bereavement period
