Course Objectives |
This course aims to introduce the effects of legal events on criminals and victims from a psychological perspective. The aim of the course is to introduce students to the basic and current methods, studies and findings in the field of forensic psychology. |
Course Content |
In this course, students will be introduced to the theoretical approaches expressed from a biological, psychological and sociological point of view of crime, the Turkish criminal justice system and criminal responsibility, the relationship between psychopathology and crime, risk factors that lead children to crime, juvenile courts, domestic violence and family courts and victimology, and possible risk factors leading to victimization. |
Learning Outcomes (LO) |
The students who attend the course and are successful at the end of semester will be able to;
1-To be able to define the basic concepts of crime and explain the theories of crime
2-To be able to define Turkish criminal justice system and comprehend the process of evaluation of criminal responsibility
3- To be able to explain the relationship between psychopathology and crime within the framework of criminal responsibility
4-To be able to explain the stages of psychiatric evaluation in the assessment of criminal responsibility in insanity
5- To be able to explain the risk factors in juvenile delinquency
6- To be able to define the functioning of juvenile courts and to comprehend the assessment of criminal responsibility in juvenile delinquency
7-To explain the domestic violence and the issues related to this concept and to define the functioning of family courts
8- To be able to identify possible risk factors that cause victimization and explain the concept of fear of crime
9- To have information about current research findings related to forensic psychology
