Course Objectives The aim of this course is; To teach the nursing knowledge and skills needed to help the emotional areas of the illness, the life crises affecting the health or the individuals who are having difficulty coping with the psychiatric disorders and to acquire the ability to understand and evaluate the psychosocial responses given to the diseases
Course Content In general, psychosocial nursing skills are introduced. Topics such as psychosocial response to the disease, psychosocial nursing evaluation, reaction to nurses' difficult patient behaviors, crisis intervention, anger problems, working with anxious patients, confusion problems will be covered in this course.
Learning Outcomes (LO) The students who attended the course and were successful at the end of semester will acquire the followings 1- Define concepts such as body image, self-esteem, weakness, loss, hopelessness in emotional reaction to the disease 2. Explain the defense mechanisms used by the patient in response to the disease and the commonly used coping mechanisms 3- Evaluate the psychosocial nursing of the patient 4- Ability to use therapeutic communication techniques and psychosocial skills such as patient acceptance, confidence building, self-esteem 5- Plan psychosocial nursing interventions of patients who have anxiety, confusion, anxiety and anger. 6- Evaluate the crisis response of the patient and making a crisis interview
