Prerequisites This course is prerequistes for internal medicine and surgical diseases nursing.

Course Objectives To provide; to see the individual and society as a whole in terms of basic human needs, to comprehend the basic philosophy of nursing and its position in health caring system, to get the necessary skills and kowledge to help health going on and protected, to learn introductory terms, fundamentals and methods about patient caring, to gain the necessary skills, behaviors and basic scientific fundamentals needed in caring at home.

Learning Outcomes (LO) The students who succeed in this course get the following: LO1:being able to express basic concepts about patient care LO2:being able to use teaching and training process of patient care LO3:being able to practise nursing on patient care LO4:getting knowledge of aseptic techniques and practising them LO5:meeting the needs of patient core care LO6:getting life signs and evaluating them LO7:being able to apply enteral and parenteral drugs LO8:relating daily life and nursing activities LO9: nursing suitable for the systems(respiratory,urinary etc.)

1. Week History,role and responsibilities of nursing
2. Week Nursing process, getting data, diagnosing,planning, noting on care plan,evaluating, care plan work,body mechanics
3. Week Personal hygiene, mouth care, eye-ear-nose caring, hair care, perine care, foot care, bed-bath, bed-making technique, bed-making for the beds with patient and without patient
4. Week Need for action, physiology of action, type of exercises,positions, impact of inactivity on the systems
5. Week Infection control, medical and surgical asepsis, insulation methods, washing hand, wearing and removing a sterile glove
6. Week Life signs, body temperature,pulse,respiration, blood pressure, hot-cold applications body temperature, evaluating blood pressure
7. Week Drug applications, drug preparation, drug side effects, dosaging
8. Week Laboratuary practices
9. Week Oral and parenteral drug preparation, muscular,intradermal and subcutaneous injections
10. Week Liquid –electrolyte balance and unbalance practices,intravenous liquid control,parenteral feeding, acid-base balance
11. Week Respiration system, oxsygen application,nasal cannula, oxsygen application with tent and mask, aspiring from the nose and mouth,trakeostomi care
12. Week Digestive system,feeding,laxatives, constipation,diarrhea,stool cover,inserting nasogastric tube,washing with nasogastric tube,digestive system and applications,removing nasogastric tube,enema prepare and practice
13. Week Urinary system,effective factors for micturation, urinary bladder catherization, urinary bladder irrigation, urinary changes
