Course Objectives The purpose of this course is to teach how to assess human health needs holistically, how to use nursing process and how to perform practice skills based on human, health, illness, environment, homeostasis and nursing concepts.
Course Content Fundamentals of Nursing is the course in which the basic concepts, principals, methods and practice skills are taught.
Learning Outcomes (LO) The students who completed the course successfully will acquire the followings: LO -1. Student describes basic concepts, principals and methods of nursing. LO -2. Student evaluates health needs of ill and healthy individual holistically. LO -3. Student. is aware of nursing process. LO -4. Student establishs nursing process according to health needs of ill and healthy individual LO -5.Student establishs nursing skills according to body systems.

1. Week History and development of nursing, roles and responsibilities, basic concepts, health team, healthy hospital environment, health system, nursing process -Infection control -Body mechanics -Skill laboratory
2. Week Personal hygiene- Skill laboratory
3. Week -Vital signs -Cold and heat applications -Skill laboratory
4. Week Medication administration, taking bood sample, venipuncture- Skill laboratory
5. Week Respiratory system and Urinary system-Skill laboratory
6. Week Gastrointestinal system and nursing applications -Skill laboratory
7. Week Wound care and nursing applications, fluid need, fluid and electrolyt balance and imbalances -skill laboratory
8. Week Preoperative and postoperative care -Hospital practice
