Course Objectives In this course, historical development of nursing, ethic concepts and rules, laws and regulations related to nursing, and nursing education, social status of nursing and its problems in Turkey are studied.
Course Content Learning the laws and ethical rules that restrict nurses' duty, responsibility and authority in medical care and practices; respecting patient rights, finding solutions to problems faced during healthcare services and evaluating ethic issues
Learning Outcomes (LO) The outcomes that students are to get after they successfully finish the course are: 1. They can define the philosophy, ethical values and principles of nursing 2. They can explain nurses' role and responsibility in healthcare system 3. They can put forward the legal aspects of nursing 4. They can define contemporary approaches towards caring, patient rights and ethical approaches. 5. They can explain the historical development of caring and nursing in the world 6. They can explain the development of nursing in Turkey and factors influencing it 7. They can talk about national and international healthcare institutions
