Course Objectives |
The aim of this course is to teach the necessary nursing knowledge and skills to help individuals who have difficulties in coping with the emotional areas of the disease, life crises affecting health or psychiatric disorders, and to develop the ability to understand and evaluate the characteristics of psychosocial responses to diseases. |
Course Content |
The contents of this course are psychosocial nursing skills, psychosocial response to illness, psychosocial nursing assessment, nurses' reactions to difficult patient behavior, crisis intervention, anger problems, working with anxious patients, confusion problems, etc. |
Learning Outcomes (LO) |
1- He/She can define concepts such as body image, self-esteem, powerlessness, loss, hopelessness in the emotional response to illness.
2- He/She can explain the patient's defense mechanisms and commonly used coping mechanisms in response to illness.
3- He/She can make psychosocial nursing evaluation of the patient.
4- He/She can use therapeutic communication techniques and psychosocial skills such as acceptance of the patient, building confidence, increasing self-esteem.
5- He/She can plan psychosocial nursing interventions for patients who experience anxiety, confusion, pain or have problems such as anger.
6- He/She can evaluate the patient's crisis response and conduct a crisis interview.
