Course Objectives Helping students to understand the theories of using literature in the language classroom, showing how the figurative usage of language in a literary work can expand the students' language awareness and interpretative abilities.
Course Content Selected examples from British and American short fiction will be presented and analyzed by using different approaches to teaching literature (language based approach, stylistics, literature as content)
Learning Outcomes (LO) The students who attended the course and were successful at the end of semester will acquire the followings: 1. identify the role of literature in language teaching. 2. identify the role of literature in culture teaching. 3. analyze literary texts as materials to be used in language classes.
