Discussing and understanding the principles and processes valid in second language learning and use from linguistic, cognitive and psychological perspectives. Associating second language acquisition studies and second language teaching, and accordingly ensuring that processes related to second language acquisition/learning form the basis for language teaching. |

Understanding the principles and processes involved in native language acquisition and comprehending the effects of native language acquisition on second language acquisition/learning. Discussing and understanding the principles and processes valid in second language learning and use from linguistic, cognitive and psychological perspectives. Linking second language acquisition studies and second language teaching, and accordingly ensuring that processes related to second language acquisition/learning form the basis for language teaching. |
Learning Outcomes (LO) |
The achievements of students who complete and succeed in this course are as follows; LO-1 Knows first and second language acquisition theories (behaviorism, innateness, information processing, connectionist models, interactional approach). LO-2 Knows and compares the developmental stages and processes of the mother tongue and the target language. LO-3 Compares second language acquisition in children and adults through recordings of classroom second language interaction and transcription LO-4 Second language acquisition processes, characteristics learned in second language acquisition, and individual differences in final acquisition (e.g.: personality influence, language ability, intelligence, acquisition age, motivation and attitude, learner preferences and beliefs). LO-5 Knows the differences between second language and foreign language learning contexts (e.g. natural and formal education environments). |
