Law


General Information

Ufuk University Law Faculty was founded in 2002 and has valuable academic staff. The Faculty offers a program with legal courses in English (30 %). Its first graduates were awarded degrees in 2006. The founding dean is Prof. Dr. Ali Naim İnan. Currently, the Dean is Prof. Dr. Mustafa KILIÇ. In the department of public law  Prof. Dr. Sertaç Hami Başeren, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Mumcu, Prof. Dr. Zehra Odyakmaz, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Seydi Kaymaz,  and Asst. Prof. Dr. Fulya Korkmaz, in the department of private law , Assist. Prof. Dr. Ömer Faruk Özeroğlu,, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Gülsüm Tatar serve as faculty members. 

The education in our faculty covers a 4-year academic program consisting of annual and semester courses. The curriculum that offers theory and practice together with the classical courses of legal education such as Civil Law, Constitutional Law, Law of Obligations, Criminal Law, Administrative Law, Commercial Law, International Public and Private Law, Philosophy of Law and Procedural Law. The course includes courses which are regularly adapted to new developments.

Qualification Awarded

The students who successfully complete the program will be awarded the degree of Bachelor of Law.

Admission Requirements

Students are accepted through the centrally administrated entrance exam conducted by ÖSYM. General admission requirements apply for both Turkish students and foreign students.

Arrangements for the Recognition of Prior Learning

At Ufuk University full-time students can be exempted from some courses within the framework of the related by laws. If the content of the course previously taken in another institution is equivalent to the course offered at Ufuk University, then the student can be exempted from this course with the approval of the related faculty/graduate school after the evaluation of the course content.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The language of instruction is English % 30. In order to start the law program, students must achieve English proficiency exam or take English preparatory class. A student is required to successfully achieve compulsory and elective courses and also meet the requirement of a minimum of 240 ECST credits without obtaining FF degree from any courses in the program. Grade point average must be a minimum of 2.00 out of 4.00.

Profile of the Programme

Ufuk University Faculty of Law aims to develop students' legal reasoning skills through basic legal theories and concepts and to develop a young generation who is sensitive to local and universal social problems, who can develop creative solutions to these problems, and who understand the modern world.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

Ufuk University Faculty of Law has adopted a professional ethics approach to educate advanced jurists who have professional horizons and knowledge beyond the current in education and research.
The program objectives identified in this context are:

1- To teach the basic concepts and institutions of legal science with the theoretical foundations and to gain the ability to use them in research and application.

2- Evaluate the issues that cover the basic sub-areas of jurisprudence and evaluate them with each other in an analytical and critical manner.

3- To contribute to the field of application by considering all sub-fields of jurisprudence in accordance with the needs of society and country.

4- Developing solutions by adopting an interdisciplinary approach in all sub-fields of jurisprudence.

5- To gain awareness of ethical principles and responsibilities in professional knowledge and practice.

Program Qualification 12 To be able to use at least one foreign language effectively
Program Qualification 13 Adopting the concept of honesty, justice, and ethics required by lawyers in accordance with the principles of universal law.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

The graduates of this program can be an attorney at law, district attorney, judge, prosecutor, notary, mediator, civil servant or diplomat. Also, the graduates can serve as governor, district governor, inspector, specialist or expert assistant in independent senior bodies, and rapporteur in the high jurisdiction.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

A variety of assessment methods such as quizzes, mid-term(s), assignment(s), exercise(s), project(s), practice(s), and a final exam are implemented in the programme. Assessment methods may include classical test(s), multiple-choice test(s), homework(s), performance evaluation(s), and product evaluation(s). In order to graduate from the programme, cumulative GPA must be minimum 2.00. A course grade is constituted by evaluating the above stated elements and given by using letters. Success Grades

The lowest success grade, which is a sum of 40% of the mid-term grade and 60% of the final exam grade, is for law students, 60 points (CC). Also, the students have to score 60 out of 100 points in the final or make-up exam.

Graduation Requirements

In order to graduate from this undergraduate program, the students are reguired;

  • To succeed in all of the courses listed in the curriculum of the program by getting the grade of at least DD/S with a minimum of 240 ECTS
  • To have a grade point Average of 2.00 out of 4.00
