Course Objectives |
The aim of this course is to develop students' competencies regarding the teaching materials used in teaching English, their evaluation and development. |
Course Content |
ELT course materials design theories and principles (e.g.: material selection, adaptation, development and evaluation) and basic views for and against textbook use; format for selecting course materials: student language proficiency, learnability, ease of use, cultural content, appropriateness of communicative interaction and language use, materials deployed in a real-world context that help students interact with each other and with the teacher; adaptation and development of materials for language teaching, adaptation of textbook materials according to specific learning needs and teaching environments, prospective teachers to design their own teaching materials and auxiliary materials according to the appropriate method, student level, needs and current school environment; equipment evaluation. |
Learning Outcomes (LO) |
The achievements of students who complete and succeed in this course are as follows; LO-1 Knows and compares the theories and principles of course material design (eg: material selection, adaptation, development and evaluation) in teaching English. LO-2 Examines the relationship between the format regarding the selection of course materials, the student's language proficiency, learnability, ease of use, cultural content, suitability of communicative interaction and language use and works on examples. LO-3 Examines and implements the adaptation and development of materials for language teaching, the adaptation of textbook materials according to specific learning needs and teaching environments, and the design of teacher candidates' own teaching materials and auxiliary materials according to the appropriate method, student level, needs and current school environment. |
