Course Objectives The aim of the course is to understand the historical origins of democracy, to discuss the basic concepts and problems of the theory of democracy and to analyze the general theories of different theories on democracy. Another important aim of the course to understand the preconditions of democracy and other forms of government, to be interested in the development and protection of human rights, and to understand what qualities democracy has to guarantee human rights.
Course Content This course includes scrutiny of the preconditions of democracy and other forms of government, analysis the development and protection of human rights, and understanding what qualities democracy has in order to guarantee human rights.
Learning Outcomes (LO) 1. To understand the key normative ideas that underlie democratic theory. 2. To demonstrate this understanding by applying these insights to solving contemporary practical problems.
