Course Objectives Understanding foundation, development of a state, which is one of the subjects of international law, it’s relationship with other states and the rules that must be obeyed in this relationship. Apprehending applications of various concepts in maritime law. Learning functions and qualifications of international foundations. Investigating common law rules in international law. International law is a branch of law that regulates the rules, which should be obeyed, in an international relationship of a state which is a subject of international law.
Course Content Understanding foundation, development of a state, which is one of the subjects of international law, it’s relationship with other states and the rules that must be obeyed in this relationship. Apprehending applications of various concepts in maritime law. Learning functions and qualifications of international foundations. Investigating common law rules in international law.
Learning Outcomes (LO) The students who attended the course and were successful at the end of semester will acquire the followings; 1. Applying to current events while apprehending rules of international law 2. To understand functions of states, which are subjects of international law, in international society. 3. Apprehending how the concepts of sea law are applied to states which have got coasts. And also apprehending if those concepts are applicable for states which haven’t got coasts. 4. Evaluating if international organisations can reach their aims or not according to events in international arena. 5. To determine international disputes which are solved with peaceful ways

3. Week - Unilateral legal transactions - Codification of international law - Turkish law and samples of implementation
4. Week - Elements of state which subjects of international law - Confederation - Federation - Recognition - Recognition of governments - Recognition of states - Qualifications, methods and legal impacts
