Course Objectives |
Objectives of the course are to convey the conceptual and historical development of social policy, to examine current social policy problems, to discuss the phenomenon of poverty and the roles of social policy actors in social policies for disadvantaged groups. In addition, the course aims to convey the development of social policy in the world and in Turkey in a historical perspective and to provide skills that can analyze new emerging social problems in changing conditions. |
Course Content |
Conceptual framework, scope and tools of social policy; social policy actors, effects of globalization on social policy; development of social policy in Turkey; International Social Policy, concept of poverty and struggle against poverty; social policies for the disadvantaged groups; current social policies regarding social security, social insurance, social exclusion, discrimination, employment, unemployment and income distribution will be examined and discussed. |
Learning Outcomes (LO) |
Students taking the Social Policy Course;
1. Gain knowledge about the concept of social policy and its objectives.
2. Evaluate the historical development and change of the social policy approach in the world and in Turkey.
3. Discuss the effects of globalization on social policies.
4. Will be able to discuss social policy tools in solving social problems and evaluate social policies for disadvantaged groups.
5. Execute current debates on social policy. |
