Course Objectives |
Innovation management has become an important element of sustainable competitive advantage for modern businesses and the driving force of growth for national economies. It is possible to adapt to new conditions caused by rapid changes in economic, technological and environmental factors and to develop a sustainable competitive strategy by producing new products and services. In addition to what technological innovations bring, it also has a high probability of failure due to its difficulties, uncertainty conditions and risk-containing nature. For this reason, students need to know the concept of innovation, innovation management tools and techniques and strategies and gain the ability to apply and use them. |
Course Content |
The role of innovation concept and its applications in business administration and its importance in competing in today's markets will be discussed. It will focus on how innovation activities are evaluated to provide sustainable competitive advantage in businesses in the long term, how innovation can provide measurable added value to businesses and the management style and organizational structure required for the strategic innovation process. Within the scope of the course; basic concepts and classification, innovation environment, innovation process, sources of innovation and creative thinking techniques, micro and macro innovation systems, and protection and support of intellectual property rights will be discussed. |

To understand the concept and philosophy of innovation and innovation management, to explain its importance for businesses and the national economy,
To be able to explain and evaluate the factors that affect the success of innovation management,
To be able to classify innovations by considering the basic factors,
To be able to analyze new product development and innovation processes,
To evaluate the factors affecting the spread of new products,
To be able to develop effective solutions regarding the issues to be considered in the marketing of new products,
To be able to explain the models developed for innovation,
To be able to understand the factors that affect diffusion and adoption of innovation,
To be able to explain the stages of the innovation process,
To be able to analyze and evaluate what infrastructure is needed to create an innovative business, to explain the factors that determine the innovative structure of businesses and their effects,
To be able to explain the roles of leaders and employees in the innovation process with examples,
To be able to apply creative thinking techniques such as brainstorming, morphological analysis and TRIZ,
To be able to interpret the effects of organizational structure and environmental factors on innovative culture with examples,
To be able to define which resources companies use in creating innovation, to distinguish between internal and external innovation resources,
To be able to define innovation strategy types for businesses,
To explain the barriers in the process of creating innovation for businesses,
To be able to explain the regional and national innovation system and innovation systems in other countries, to discuss the effects of the industrial structure of the private sector and other supporting public institutions within the national innovation system,
To be able to explain what are the rights covered by intellectual property, the conditions of protection, the scope of protection and why it is protected,
To be able to explain examples of success. |
