Course Objectives Examination of the normal development stages of human from the beginning of life to the end of adolescence and the problems that may arise at these stages.
Course Content Basic concepts and principles of development, physical, mental, emotional, social and moral development of childhood and adolescence. Various developmental theories.
Learning Outcomes (LO) 1- Acquiring the theoretical knowledge necessary to understand children and adolescents. 2- To know the normal development stages of children and to distinguish between normal and abnormal situations. 3- To learn how various theorists approach human development from different perspectives.

1. Week Basic concepts and principles of development
2. Week Factors affecting development ( hereditary, environmental and historical time factors)
3. Week Theories of development: Freud’s psycho-sexual development theory and Piaget’s cognitive development theory.
4. Week Erikson’s psycho-social development theory , Maslow’s theory of personality and other development theories ( Levinson, Bronfenbrenner ).
5. Week Prenatal development , physical development and motor development in infancy and childhood.
6. Week Cognitive development in infancy and childhood
7. Week Moral development: The theories of Piaget and Kohlberg
