Course Objectives |
To equip graduate students with current understandings of language program assessment through theory and cases, and to create assessment design and decision frameworks to assist them in their assessment and research in assessment processes. |
Course Content |
Evaluation objectives, challenges for participants and stakeholders in foreign language program evaluation; evaluation criteria; data; and the role of evaluation in program management. Advances in evaluation theory informing language program evaluation. Suggested perspectives as alternatives to measuring outcomes. Examining the specific context of language program evaluation. Evaluation of teachers' English teaching skills and professional development needs in a policy context. Evaluations of pilot programs in the development of language education policy. Examination of assessment practices in higher education. Examining assessment frameworks for assessing foreign language proficiency. Shares, stakeholder and stakeholders in foreign language program evaluation. Design and implement large-scale, teacher-led and management-led assessments. |
