Course Objectives |
The aim of this course is to enable students to gain knowledge about the historical development and principles of School PCG services, PCG models and approaches, basic services / interventions, roles and duties of the school counselors, goals and principles of developmental and preventive approaches, life skills, and positive youth development approaches. |
Course Content |
Basic concepts and principles regarding PCG;history, field and branches of PCG; the research and evaluation methods used, psychological counseling process, psychological counseling theories, school counseling models (traditional and developmental), school counseling approaches (crisis oriented, remedial, preventive and developmental), the purpose and principles of the traditional school counseling model, the roles and functions of the traditional school counselor, purpose, principles and program of the developmental school counseling model (Comprehensive Developmental Counseling Program), basic services / interventions and the roles and functions of the developmental school counselor; The purpose and principles of the developmental and preventive approach in PCG, the importance of life skills training in the developmental approach, positive youth development approaches and levels of prevention in preventive approach (basic, second and third levels). |

3. Explains the purpose, principles and structure of traditional guidance model.
4. Explains the purpose, principles and structure of the developmental guidance model.
5. Knows the differences between traditional and developmental models.
6. Explains the scope of the developmental-preventive PCG service.
7. Explains the importance of life skills training in developmental approach.
8. Knows the levels of preventive guidance.
9. Knows the scope of the three development areas of PCG.
10. Knows the interventions used in school PCG services.
11. Knows the roles and functions of the school counselor.
12. Knows positive youth development approaches.
13. Knows Ministry of National Education PCG regulation.
