Course Objectives |
The aim of this course is to enable students to gain knowledge and skills related to psychological and ethical issues in counseling. |
Course Content |
Ethical principles and general practice standards in the field of counseling, decision-making proper to professional ethics, client rights and responsibilities of counselors, legal problems. |
Learning Outcomes (LO) |
The students who attends and are successful at the end of semester will acquire the followings:
1. Knows the concept of professional ethics,
2. Knows the history of professional ethics,
3. Knows and adopts the general practice standards of professional ethics,
4. Understands professional ethical decision-making models,
5. Gains the ability to make decisions in accordance with professional ethics,
6. Gains awareness and ability to maintain the balance between the psychological counselor and the client,
7. Knows the client's rights and puts them into practice,
8. Knows and adopts ethics and responsibilities towards students as a consultant,
9. Knows the responsibilities towards parents,
10. Knows the responsibilities towards colleagues and other professionals,
11. Knows the responsibilities towards the school and society,
12. Knows the responsibilities towards himself/herself,
13. Knows the responsibilities towards the profession,
14. Pays attention to the protection of ethical standards,
15. Pays attention to confidentiality and privacy,
16. Knows, adopts and implements the role of cultural sensitivity and non-discrimination,
17. The counselor's state of exhaustion threatens his well-being. It negatively affects the client and counselor relationship. As such, he must renew himself/herself,
18. Research pays attention to publication ethics,
19. Knows professional ethics and laws related to psychological counseling. It produces solutions to legal problems |
