Course Objectives |
The aim of the course is to provide a general view on the relationship between linguistics and language teaching and to increase students' sensitivity to language teaching problems in general. |
Course Content |
Modern linguistics: basic features, traditional and modern studies of language, presentations: language, scientific study of language, language variety, dialect, linguistic relativity, functions of language, speech acts, linguistics and applied linguistics, scientific and pedagogical grammar, linguistics and language teaching syllabus, grammar and language teaching, semantics and language teaching, psycholinguistics and language teaching, sociolinguistcs and language teaching, teaching language to young children and adults |
Learning Outcomes (LO) |
The students who attended the course and were successful at the end of semester will acquire the followings;
LO1 - be familiar with basic issues in linguistics and language teaching
LO2 - appreaciate the place of linguistics in ELT and LT in general
LO3 - be able to identify problems and reserach issues in relation to LT in general |
