Course Objectives To ensure students’ gain of theories, concepts and practices related to the testing and evaluation tools, methods and techniques in education
Course Content The role and importance of testing and evaluation in education, basic concepts related to testing and evaluation, qualities required for testing tools (reliability, validity, practicality); testing tools used in education and their properties, tools based on traditional approaches (written exam, short answer tests, true-false, multiple choice tests, matching tests, oral tests, homework), tools for students’ recognizing (observation, interview, performance assessment, portfolio, research papers, research projects, peer assessment, self-assessment, attitude scales) basic inferential statistics done on the testing results, evaluation of the learning outcomes, grading, developing testing tools related to their field.
Learning Outcomes (LO) The students who attended the course and were successful at the end of semester will acquire the followings; LO1 – to know the role and importance of testing and evaluation in education LO2 – to examine the basic concepts on testing and evaluation, qualities required for testing tools (reliability, validity, practicality) testing tools used in education and their properties. LO3 – to develop testing tools used in education LO4 – to compare tools based on traditional approaches (written exam, short answer tests, true-false, multiple choice tests, matching tests, oral tests, homework) with tools for students’ recognizing (observation, interview, performance assessment, portfolio, research papers, research projects, peer assessment, self-assessment, attitude scales) LO5 – to know basic inferential statistics done on the testing results LO6 – to evaluate learning outcomes, grading, develop and perform testing tools related to their field
