Course Objectives |
Teacher candidates should know the teacher profession with an approach of community service and about community services management, operation and project planning. Furthermore, they should develop a project or contribute to a project for community service. |
Course Content |
Community Service is a course which provides teacher candidates general information on their interested field, various projects, organizations and insti,tutions and individuals in the field (society section) and is based on applications that are projects different from the lessons given by formal and non-formal education institutions. The aim of the course is to introduce teacher candidates the society and teacher profession with a focus on community aspects, to have the sensitivity of examining the courses in the undergraduate program from a societal perspective and to develop their social responsibility. This course is compulsory and given in one semester of all teacher education programs. If required it may include two semesters. In this course teacher candidates are expected to determine current issues of their environment and develop projects to solve the issues. Moreover, they are expected to participate in panels, conferences, congresses, symposium, and scientific events as audience, speaker or organizer. |
