Course Objectives In this graduate course, the aim is to cover advanced topics in research methods in psychology. The students will gain advanced knowledge and abilities on quantitative and qualitative research theories, methods and principles of psycholgy.
Course Content This course covers topics on theories, methods, practical and ethical issues, data collection and analysis techniques and reporting of quantitative and qualitative research methods in psychology.
Learning Outcomes (LO) The students who attended the course and were successful at the end of semester will acquire the followings; 1- Having deep knowledge on quantitative and qualitative research methods (theory, methods, principles, research design, research planning, levels of measurement, sampling, data collection and analysis, preparing research reports). 2- Comprehending ethical principles of research in psychology 3- Evaluation and critical appraisal of quantitative and qualitative researh studies in psychology, 4- Gaining technical competency on doing research in psychology from the literature search phase, research question and hypothesis building, to data collection, analysis and writing reports. 5- Having knowledge and critical approach to current trends in quantitative and qualitative research on social and health psychology. 6- Determining the individual and social problem areas requiring researh on social and health psychology topic areas and gaining the ability to propose research studies on those psycho-social problem areas.
