| Course Objectives |
The course is designed to introduce the fundemental issues and concepts in the self and identity literature from the social psychological perspective. |
| Course Content |
Generally, this course will provide students with a background in self and identity from a social psychological perspective and provide an opportunity to learn about various theoretical, conceptual, and empirical issues. However, one semester will not afford us the opportunity to explore every self-related phenomenon. Therefore, this course will attempt to explore a number of issues related to the self. Especially, culture and gender differences on the structure and the functioning of of the self concept will be extensivelly discussed in this course.

| Learning Outcomes (LO) |
The students who attended the course and were successful at the end of semester will acquire the followings;
1- Gain an understanding of selective but central concepts in defining self and identity
2- To explain the historical viewpoints of self and self development
3- Introduce the basic concepts and primary research in this area
4- Produce a feasible research proposal on the desired topic relevant to the self and identity
5- Develop an awareness regarding the cross-cultural validity and relevance of the self research
6- Improve writing, presentation, and discussion skills through course activities.
7- Relating the theoric knowledge, concepts and researches of self and identity topics with everyday life situations.
