Course Objectives
Course Content This lecture aims to examine basic concepts, principles and doctrines of law.
Learning Outcomes (LO) 1. Gaining the ability to define the concept “right” constitutes the foundation of law. Gaining basic knowledge on acquisition, use, types, protection and loss of rights. 2. Gaining knowledge on sources of law, gaining the ability to assess methodically. 3. Assessing the relationship between law and other social behavior rules governing the human acts. 4. Analyzing the sanctions and types of sanctions. 5. Assessing the intellectual roots of origination of law in a philosophical and historical way and enriching intellectual mind. 6. Understanding the legal systems and characteristics of legal system which Turkish law belongs to. Using the outcomes while making assessments on foreign countries’ laws. 7. Assessing the principles and concepts of the execution of legal rules by time and place. Gaining the ability to apply on cases. 8. Gaining knowledge on interpretation of law and several methods of interpretation. 9. Gaining knowledge on judgment in law and several methods of interpretation, and gaining the ability to apply on cases. 10. Gaining knowledge on judge made law and discretion of judge, and their limits. 11. Gaining the ability to classify branches of law as private law and public law, comparing the characteristics of private law and public law. 12. Gaining knowledge on judicial system.
