Course Objectives Concept of consumer and the movement of consumerism. Development of consumer protection. EU legislation on consumer protection. Consumer protection İn Turkey. The Law On Consumer Protection. Consumer rights. Consumer transactions and consumer disputes. Defective goods and services. Protection of consumers in financial sector. Dispute resolution methods and application.
Course Content This is a one semester course which covers theoretical and practical discussions on; - The concept of consumer and consumer protection, - Consumer rights and development of consumer rights, - Different methods of protection of the consumers, - Understand the concepts covered by the Law on Consumer Protection (Law no:6502), - Different subjects related to consumer and main consumer disputes
Learning Outcomes (LO) At the end of this course, students will be able to - Understand the concept of consumer and consumer transaction and to develop the ability to differentiate the commercial transactions and consumer transactions from each other, - Argue and judge the consumer rights, - Analyse the development of consumer protection in different countries and the place of Turkey and Turkish Law, - Explain and understand the different disputes that may arise and the solution of these disputes, - Analyse the Law on Consumer Protection and main subjects regulated in the Law, - Define ways of dispute resolution and be able to apply them.
