Course Objectives The purpose of this course is for students to become familiar with career information sources and to use the information they learn in this course both in their own career development process and in the service they provide to their clients.
Course Content Career planning process, responsibilities of career counselors in the process, methods of using information by people making career decisions and criteria that can be used to evaluate the quality of information, labor market, basic information sources of the public and private sectors and major occupational classification systems.
Learning Outcomes (LO) Those who take this course and complete it successfully are expected to acquire the following achievements: 1. Explains the career planning process. 2. Expresses the responsibilities of career counselors in the process. 3. Explains the methods of using information by people making career decisions and the criteria they can use to evaluate the quality of information. 4. Defines the concept of labor market. 5. Explains the basic information sources of the public and private sectors. 6. Knows the major occupational classification systems.
