Course Objectives The purpose of the Fundamentals of Nursing course; is to help the student understand the basic philosophy of nursing and the basic knowledge, roles, skills, and practices of nursing, to determine the health needs of individuals within the framework of nursing concepts, to evaluate them from a holistic perspective and to teach them to practice skills with the nursing process.
Course Content Fundamentals of Nursing; It is a course where the basic concepts, principles, methods, and practice skills of nursing are taught. Nursing, History of Nursing, Nursing Process, Critical Thinking Skills, Health System, Healthy Hospital Environment, Patient Safety, Determination of Basic Human Needs, Nursing Care and Interventions, Physical Assessment and Evaluation of Systems, Vital Signs, Medication Administration, Fluid-Electrolyte Balance, Blood Transfusion, Perioperative Patient Care, Wound Care, Death-Loss-Mourning Concept.
Learning Outcomes (LO) The students who complete the course successfully will acquire the following: LO -1. Explaining the nursing profession and the social importance of the profession LO -2. Counting the duties, powers, and responsibilities of nursing and basic concepts and theories LO -3. Evaluating people holistically and gaining problem-solving skills LO -4. Providing care through the nursing process in line with basic principles and concepts LO -5. Identifying the educational needs of healthy/sick individuals and providing health education

3. Week Patient Safety, Providing a Safe Environment, Nosocomial Infections, Prevention of Infections, Infection Control Principles and the Roles of the Nurse, Surgical and Medical Asepsis, Basic Disinfection and Sterilization Methods. Skills Laboratory, Clinical Practice

Week Physical Evaluation and Vital Signs, Individual Hygiene, Skin Evaluation, Hygiene Practices (Oral, Eye, Hair and Body Care, Bed Bath and Lice Treatment), Assessment of Movement, (Body Posture, Body Mechanics, Protective and Therapeutic Positioning of the Patient, Mobilizing and Transportation of the Patient, Exercise, Massage), Skills Laboratory, Clinical Practice
