Course Objectives This course explains the functions and fine structure of cells and tissue. Defines the relationship between structure and functions. Also explains the development and developmental disorders of human cells and tissues.
Course Content Histology course; discusses the development and fine structures of human cells and basic tissues.
Learning Outcomes (LO) The students who attended the course and were successful at the end of the semester will acquire the following: LO1 –To learn cell and tissue staining with light microscopical techniques. LO2- To learn fine structural properties and function of cell and tissue LO3-To learn cell nuclear chromatin material and cell activities. LO4- To learn cell divisions and regeneration processes LO5-To learn the structural features of epithelial tissue LO6- to learn extracellular material and cells of connective tissue LO7- To learn the clinical features , structure, and functions of blood cells LO8- To learn the fine structure and function of skeletal, smooth, and cardiac muscle cells. LO9-ToLearn the structure and functions of neurons and neuroglial cells that constitute the nervous tissue.

2. Week Histologic definition and basic structural features of the cells
3. Week Electron microscopical features (fine structures) of cell membrane.
4. Week Cell organelles and inclusions.
5. Week Cell organelles.
6. Week Definition of the cell nucleus and chromatin material
7. Week Cell division: Features of mitosis and meiosis.
8. Week The epithelial tissue: Characterization of the cells and basic structural features and function
9. Week Connective tissue: Characterization of the cells and structural features and function
10. Week Cartilage: Characterization of the cells and structural features and fuction
11. Week Bone: Characterization of the cells and structural features and fuction
12. Week Blood tissue: Characterization of the cells and structural features and fuction
