Course Objectives Transferring information about the foundation stage of the Republic of Turkey, the Turkish Understanding the fundamental nature of the revolution and adopting, young people have the consciousness of history is aimed.
Course Content This course examines the establishment process of Turkish Republic, the principles, of Atatürk and Turkish revolution, and political affairs after Atatürk's period.
Learning Outcomes (LO) The students who attended the course and were successful at the end of semester will acquire the followings: LO1- Comprehend that Turkish Modernization embodies a continuity and a break. LO2- Explain that Balkan War is an important breaking point of Turkish Nationalism together with the results of the war. LO3- Explain the causes and consequences of the First World War. LO4 List National Struggle steps and the results, Recognize the leader of the National Movement and the Republic of Turkey's founder Ataturk. LO5- To evaluate the importance of the Lausanne Peace Treaty, the steps taken on the way to the Republic and the results of these.

Week Topics
1. Week 19th Century Ottoman Empire, Tripoli and Balkan Wars.
2. Week First World War and Ottoman Empire: Causes and Starts of War, First World War in terms of Ottoman State, Fronts, Consequences of War.
3. Week Armistice of Mondros: Signing of Armistice, Main Provisions, Implementation of Armistice, Occupations, Political Events after Armistice, Press in Armistice Period.
4. Week Paris Peace Conference: Decisions for Turkish Lands at the Conference, Occupation of Izmir. Associations in Armistice Environment: National Forces, National Societies, National Hostile Societies.
5. Week Following the Armistice of Mondros, Mustafa Kemal Pasha was appointed as the 9th Army Inspector and his departure to Samsun. Circulars and Congresses Period: Havza Circular, Amasya Circular, Erzurum and Sivas Congress, Other Congresses.
6. Week Mustafa Kemal Pasha and his delegation, the arrival of the Representative to Ankara, the gathering of the last Ottoman Parliament, the proclamation of the National Pact, the occupation of Istanbul.
7. Week Opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, the structure and functioning of the Assembly, the uprisings after the opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, the measures taken by the Turkish Grand National Assembly, the Treaty of Sevres.

12. Week Abolition of the Sultanate, the Treaty of Lausanne, the proclamation of the Republic, the establishment of the People's Party, Ankara being the Capital.
13. Week Abolition of the Caliphate, Progressive Republican Party and Sheikh Sait Rebellion, Izmir Assassination, Free Republican Party and Menemen Incident.
