Course Objectives With this course, students will gain the basic knowledge and skills about the basic concepts of creative drama, the stages of drama, its basic components, different techniques, history and theoretical dimension. It is aimed to develop creativity, problem solving, cooperation, empathy and communication skills. This course provides opportunities for students to recognize their individual characteristics, distinguish individual differences, recognize group members, communicate and interact with the group, and prepare and implement a creative drama plan.
Course Content This course includes the basic concepts of drama and creative drama ( creativity, creative drama, play and theater pedagogy, communication interaction, role playing, improvisation, etc.); perception and sense studies, stages, dimensions and elements of creative drama; role playing and improvisation; history of creative drama; relationship between creative dram a and literary genres, creative drama and music, sculpture, photography and painting, social events and creative drama; drama in education; resources that can be used in drama in education; preparation and implementation of creative drama lesson plan. It w ill introduce the topics of the contribution of drama to individual and social development.
Learning Outcomes (LO) The students who attended the course and were successful at the end of semester will acquire the followings: 1. To r ecognize individual characteristics within the group and distinguishes differences. 2. To c omprehend the basic concepts and elem ents of creative drama. 3. To tell the stages of creative drama. 4. To explain the historical development of creative drama. 5. To know the concepts of role playing and improvisation. 6. To interpret the relationship between the theoretical dimension of creative drama and workshops. 7. To interpret the relationship between creative drama and literary genres ( poem, fairy tale). 8. To comprehend the relationships between creative drama and social events/problems. 9. To comprehend the importance of creative drama in educati on. 10. To prepare a creative drama plan. 11. To apply a creative drama plan.
