Course Objectives To educate students who understand the importance, terms and principles of molecular biology, cell culture and IVF technology and utilize this knowledge in practice. To provide scientific background for the students so that they can follow all the latest literature and development in molecular biology and cell culture and IVF technology.
Course Content The following subjects are taught in this lesson:vstructure of genetic material, its replication and folding, structure of RNA and its synthesis, structure of proteins and their synthesis, posttranslational modifications, regulation of genetic code, DNA mutation mechanisms, mutation types, mutagens, DNA repair systems, the structure and function of a cell, cell cycle and cell divisions, cell culture technique and IVF technology
Learning Outcomes (LO) The student will - Know the basic biologic mechanisms from DNA to protein, and their interaction with each other. - Know mutations, how it happens, mutagens and mutation repair mechanisms. - Know the structure and the functions of the cell. - Know cell divisions, cell cycles, and how these are controlled. - Know how cell culture can be done and how the problems can be solved. - Know what IVF technology is and when and how it is applied.
