Course Objectives To teach information systems and related subjects, management information systems and system development tools and methodology (including database design), decision support system.
Course Content Course description includes; Introduction to information systems and computer based information information systems, informatioın sytem development tool, database management systems, system development approaches, communication and network systems, internet and electronic commerce, decision support systems, DSS development and Excel applications, Data oriented DSS- Data warehouse and data mining, Structured Query Language (SQL).

1. Week INTRODUCTION TO INFORMATION SYSTEMS: Information and related definitions, system and system concept, system approach, decision making in management
2. Week INTRODUCTION TO INFORMATION SYSTEMS: Decision types, information filtering, information systems and its types
3. Week COMPUTER BASED INFORMATION SYSTEMS: Transaction processing systems (TPS), Management information systems and related topics, Decision support systems
4. Week COMPUTER BASED INFORMATION SYSTEMS: Decision support systems, Office automated systems, Artificial intelligence and expert systems, Executive information systems
5. Week INFORMATION SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT TOOLS: Flowcharts, Data flow diagrams, Structured language, Decision tables, Decision trees, HIPO
6. Week DATABASE DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT: Data sources and data management, Database models, Database management system components.
