General Information

Pathology Laboratory Techniques program started education at associate degree level in 2014-2015 academic year. Pathology Laboratory Technician is an assistant health technician who makes tissues and body fluids ready for microscopic examination and assists pathology specialists in these matters. The aim of the program is to train assistant health technicians who will work in occupational laboratories and have the competence to apply new technologies and techniques.

The language of instruction in the program is Turkish.

Admission Requirements

Students are admitted to the Pathology Laboratory Techniques Program of Ufuk University after a central examination conducted by the Measurement Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).

Arrangements for the Recognition of Prior Learning

 If students who have applied to our school enroll with the student transcript of the previous education they received from other higher education institutions in the domestic or overseas in addition to the course contents within their applications; their requests on the credit and grade transfer are discussed and ruled in by the board of directors.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The student who will graduate from the program must have completed all the courses in the program and must not have an FF grade. In this program, the student must provide a minimum of 120 ECTS credits, have a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00, and have also completed 240 hours of summer internship in 30 working days.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Graduates of the program can work as a "Pathology Laboratory Technician" in the "Pathology Laboratories" within the health institutions and organizations in the public and private sector, and in the Pathology Laboratories of the forensic medicine institutions.

Access to Further Studies

Students who graduate from the program can transfer to the departments of Biology, Bioengineering, Biotechnology, Biotechnology and Molecular Biology, Genetics and Bioengineering, Nursing, Nursing and Health Services and Molecular Biology and Genetics.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

In the Vocational School of Health Services, the success of the student in the courses is determined by evaluating the midterm grades and the final exam grade together. The semester grades consist of the midterm exam grade and the grades given to the assignments, applications and practical studies depending on the course. The final evaluation is determined by one of the following letter grades by the instructor giving the course, taking into account the general success level of all students taking that course.
