Course Objectives Aims to provide introductory level knowledge to students on description, classification, prevention and treatment of system specific infectious diseses.
Course Content Course includes: General terminology of infectious diseases, Modes of transmission for infectious diseases, Normal body flora, The relation between the host and the parasite, Immune response of the host, General symptoms of infectious diseases, Hospital infections, Geriatric infections, Infections caused by virus, bacteria and parasites.
Learning Outcomes (LO) LO 1- Student will acquire the general terminology of infectious diseases LO 2- Student can explain the modes of transmission for infectious diseases LO 3- Student can explain the normal body flora and the relation between the host and the parasite LO 4- Student can explain the immune response of the host LO 5- Student can explain the general symptoms of infectious diseases LO 6- Student can define and differentiate hospital infections LO 7- Student can define and differentiate geriatric infections LO 8- Student can define and differentiate infections caused by virus LO 9- Student can define and differentiate infections caused by bacteria LO 10- Student can define and differentiate infections caused by parasite.
