Course Objectives The course aims to provide the knowledge and skills about the applications of nuclear medicine.
Course Content This course includes information about the biological effects of radiation and radiation protection, devices used in nuclear medicine and working principles. The student is expected to gain the ability to use radionuclides and radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes in nuclear medicine, as well as theoretical knowledge on imaging protocols.
Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to LO-1) To understand the concepts of radiation sources and types of radiation, radiation interaction with matter, activity-dose relation, biological effects of radiation, radiation protection LO-2) To have knowledge about the devices used in nuclear medicine and their working principles, LO-3) To be able to comprehend the importance of radiopharmaceuticals and quality control applications in nuclear medicine LO-4) To have information about nuclear medicine imaging, test planning and techniques in nuclear medicine LO-5) To have information about radioimmunoassay and immunoradiometric assays and other in vivo and in vitro tests LO-6) To have information about radionuclide treatment applications LO-7) To have information about legislations for radiation and radioactive waste issues;
