Course Objectives This course offers an opportunity to learn and apply, in daily life, practical principles of interpersonal communication. Emphasis is placed on psychological, social, cultural, and linguistic factors, which affect person-to-person interaction. This course is designed to help students improve their communication in both personal and professional contexts and to gain general framework for recognizing self and communication skills.
Course Content Generally, this course will provide students an opportunity to learn about various theoretical, conceptual, practical, and empirical issues in self and communication. The contents of this course includes topics of understanding the person and life events:the self, self-presentation and person perception, making attributions, and communication models and conflict types and management strategies.
Learning Outcomes (LO) The students who attended the course and were successful at the end of semester will acquire the followings; 1- Identifying theoretical approaches and reseraches relating with receognizing self and communication 2- Comprehending perceived reasons of the behavior 3- Gaining insights about the complexities of conflict situations in human relationships 4- Comprehending the differences in disputes involving participants with different backgrounds and goals in different situations such as age, gender, role, ethnicity, nationality, and even family background 5- Relating how communication affects the social interaction in everday life
