Course Objectives |
The aim of this course is to enable students to gain knowledge and skills on ethical and legal issues in psychological counseling. Discussing the legal, ethical and social issues encountered in the field of psychological counseling and guidance, organizing professional practices in line with ethical and legal conditions, and developing an understanding of the professionalization process of the field. Legal and ethical issues encountered in the execution of psychological counseling and guidance services, legal limitations and responsibilities that should be considered in professional practices, counselor and client rights, ethical decision-making principles and stages. |
Course Content |
Ethical principles and general practice standards in the field of psychological counseling and guidance, making decisions in accordance with professional ethics, client rights and responsibilities of the psychological counselor, and legal issues. In addition, it is to show the student how to use the existing knowledge in practice by gaining knowledge on professional issues. |

Those who have taken and successfully completed this course are expected to gain the following:

3. Knows and adopts the general practice standards of professional ethics,
4. Comprehends professional ethical decision making models,
5. Gains the ability to make decisions in accordance with professional ethics,
6. Gains the consciousness and skill of maintaining the balance between the counselor and the client,
7. The client knows, respects and implements their rights,
8. Knows and adopts his/her responsibilities towards students as a consultant,
9. Knows and adopts responsibilities towards parents,
10. Knows and adopts their responsibilities towards colleagues and other professionals,
11. Knows and adopts responsibilities towards school and society,
12. Knows and adopts responsibilities towards himself,
13. Knows and adopts responsibilities towards the profession,
14. Pays attention to the protection of ethical standards,
15. Pays utmost attention to the right to confidentiality and privacy,
16. Knows, adopts and applies the role of cultural sensitivity and non-discrimination,
17. The counselor's burnout threatens his well-being. Since this situation negatively affects the relationship between the counselor and the client, they know that the counselor should renew himself
18. Pays attention to research publication ethics,
19. Knows professional ethics and related laws related to psychological counseling and emotional help.
20. Makes an effort to find solutions to legal problems. |
