Course Objectives Introduction of current classification systems for adult-specific psychological disorders and discussion of its epidemiological and etiological features.
Course Content In this course, first of all, the general framework and the changes in history for defining and diagnosing adult psychopathology is given. Second, the most common mood and anxiety-related psychopathologies within the scope of DSM-5 (depressive, bipolar disorders, anxiety disorders, OCD, and PTSD) is introduced by focusing on the diagnostic criteria, epidemiological and etiological features.
Learning Outcomes (LO) The students who attend the course and are successful at the end of semester will acquire the followings; 1- Indicates the historical change in defining and diagnosing adult psychopathologies, 2- Recognizes the advantages and disadvantages of stigmatization, 3- Defines mood and anxiety-related psychopathologies, 4- Distinguishes mood and anxiety-related psychopathologies, 5- Explains the causes of mood and anxiety-related psychopathologies, 6- Evaluates new cases for possible psychopathologies.
